Time on the Island.

So over the weekend I took a little trip to the island of Nantucket to visit some college friends who I hadn’t seen since the beginning of the summer. The big takeaway from this trip is that under normal circumstances I would’ve never agreed to go out to an island like this. I notoriously hate the sun, hate beaches, and I hate going outside. I sound like a true gamer when I say that, but I find those places a little uncomfortable and a little boring. Despite those feelings, I had a really great time. I did force myself to spend some time on the beach with them and it turned out to be really nice. I think what I learned is that I don’t actually hate the beach. I hate it when the beach is suuuuper crowded and you have to fight for the space, but even when you get space you’re crammed in with a bunch of other people and it’s the farthest thing from being peaceful. So being there alone and just vibing with my friends was a different experience from any other beach I’ve had.

That peaceful feeling was kinda everywhere on the island except for when we went into the touristy places of town. But just the pace of actual island life felt so refreshing to life back on the mainland where things definitely move a lot faster. I wish I could explain my thoughts a little better, but that’s kinda it. It’s pretty nice, though I’m not sure I could spend all of my time there with where my life is currently.

So yea, if you wanna visit islands off the coast of Massachusetts, Nantucket is a pretty good place. Martha’s vineyard I think is also cool, but I have yet to go. Unfortunately, I have stuff to do on the mainland so more island trips will most definitely have to wait for a while.
