Prophecy piece or Hads Leppet 2

Here is the continuation yet again of the prophecy piece I wrote a while back. Still need an actual title at some point, it’s currently marked in my files as “hads leppet 2” so that will come eventually. Perhaps I will find myself writing into a title at some point so we'll just have to see how that goes. Just like any piece of writing I post here, all feedback is welcome and I will be back tomorrow with another post!

“Well, as much as I can extend my condolences to your lost friend, we should put it up to a vote just like the old days,” Erwin looked out to the other 14 members of the houses, “Who is in favor of allowing Hads_Leppet a seat on this council and his house’s throne after the events of the last few weeks. .”

Across the room 15 hands were raised. Lukas, still heated from before, turned and tried to walk out of the room, but was quickly stopped by the guards.

“And that is our answer, Lukas, this is your last chance to reconcile yourself.”

“I don’t need this alliance, all of you will see, it will only end in another fall!” This time the guards didn’t move to stop him from leaving.

Erwin, quick to move on, turned to Laurence Idmaer, “Laurence, I know the death of Reginald was hard for your house, but I appreciate you for sticking with us.”

“Of course, looking back, Reginald wasn’t taking us in the right direction and I can only hope that the Idmaers can redeem ourselves in the eyes of the rest of the continent.”

“I’m glad that you agree, who knows how long it will take to rebuild all the damage that has been done.” He turned back to the rest of the council, “I supposed that concludes our meeting, even if we have already settled this alliance, we must actively fight to maintain it.”

After the various houses started to leave Hads approached Erwin, “Thanks for helping me present my ideas. While I’m sure they would’ve listened to me, Lukas wouldn’t be wrong with some members not trusting me.”

“It’s no worry, Erik Leppet was a great friend of mine and his death has only proven to be nothing but tragic.”

“I only wish that he had been able to spend more time teaching me what it takes to be a leader, it’s barely been a week after and I already feel like I’m in over my head.”

“Hah, none of that teaching would’ve helped in the long run anyway. The biggest teacher will be experience, no book or mentor can prepare you for any of the things that you will encounter during your time on the throne.”

“I just don’t want to mess up, there’s a lot of pressure on me to help my people rebuild.”

Erwin chucked a bit more, “Mistakes are guaranteed, and in many cases, they will be the things that will teach you the most, now run along, you have a house to run.”

Hads gave a quick bow before heading out of the castle, there he was greeted by Ilioneus.

“I take it Lukas didn’t like your idea?” The old monk leaned against a column, looking smug.

Hads nodded, “it wasn’t really a big surprise in retrospect.”

“It’s no worry, after the way I saw him storm off, I doubt he’ll get much respect from the other houses at this point.”

“Yeah, but I don’t really want to hear about that anymore, let’s just get back and see how the repairs are coming along.”

The two friends hopped into their carriage and started their journey home. The trip back proved to be rather uneventful. The forest that once surrounded WolfPaw castle had been mostly burnt down and the only signs that there had even been one were smoldering enders and the occasional blackened stump. The entire continent had quieted down, everyone had retreated back into their own territories to rebuild and the council was the only real interaction between the houses for weeks.

A few hours passed before the carriage finally arrived at the quaint town that made up House Leppet. As Hads and Ilioneus rode through the town, the villagers gave a quick greeting before quickly returning to work. Because so much of the original town had been razed during the attack, a temporary communal shelter had been erected in what used to be the town square, that was where the Hads and Ilioneus were dropped off.

“It’s nice to know that we’re making so much progress.” Hads remarked.

“Well I’m sure everyone is dying to get back to their old lives, I just can’t wait until the castle is finished again.”

“And why is that?”

“So that we can do the official coronation ceremony, you never got yours remember?”

“That’s fair, I’m sure Bill would also like to get back into the castle right little guy?” Bill growled in agreement

As the two were talking, they were approached by two men wearing hooded robes.

“Excuse me, are you the one that they call Hads_Leppet?” The taller of the two asked.

“That would be me, and who would you two be?”

“Let’s just say,” the taller figure took off his hood, revealing a bald and heavily tattooed head, “we’ve been trying to meet you for the longest time.”
