Political Tensions

Not much to say about this one, just a short piece to sorta outline the political atmosphere of Igrax during Hads Leppet’s youth. Any feedback is welcome and I will be back tomorrow with another post!

Erik, Hads’s father, along with Lukas were arguing in a small office inside of the Leppet Castle. They were sitting across from each other on a small desk. Both of them looked weary, having been debating for the last couple of hours. Both were well past the point of decency. Erik’s Platypus had retreated to the corner of the room, clearly fed up with the tedious debate.

“I don’t know what you’ve been hearing, but the Leppet family will not get involved in any large-scale conflicts. I’m sure by the next Summit this whole issue will have been resolved.”

“Listen here,” Lukas slammed the desk, “I know you like to hide behind your wall of neutrality and peace, but pretty soon all of us will be dragged into this conflict, whether we like it not!”

“This is crazy talk, I’m not even sure I can listen to you anymore,” Erik got up from his chair and started heading towards the door.

“I saw the boy’s Platypus last night,” Erik stopped in his tracks, “it’s a runt, isn’t it?”

“What business do you have, judging a Platypus?” Erik sat back down, staring down Lukas.

“Well, if it’s found out that the next heir of the throne has a weak Platypus, isn’t that an omen for what’s to come?”

“Now you listen here, not once in the history of House Leppet has the size or strength Platypus led to a weak ruler, and it certainly isn’t going to start now.”

Right as Erik finished his sentence the door opened. In came Evelyn with a tray of food.

“I’m just bringing in some food, it’s already past suppertime.”

Lukas stood up from his seat, “It’s ok Evelyn, I was just leaving.”

Lukas walked out the door, ignoring everyone on his way out until he got to his transport.

“He seems real wound up about something.”

Erik put his head in his hands, “He’s still going on about the impending war.”

“When will he give up on that idea, there hasn’t been a major war ever since the collapse, and I’m sure no one wants to go through that again.”

“Yes, but leave it to people like Lukas for trying to incite one.”

“Do you think he and Reginald will go at it at the next Summit.”

“Considering it’s less than a week away, I’m counting on it.”

Evelyn, wanting to shift the conversation to a lighter tone, said, “Well now what am I going to do with all this food?”

“You can just leave it in here, I still have to prepare some things for tomorrow.”

“Very well, are you sure you don’t want to join the others at the dinner table?”

“I’m fine, just send them my regards when you get there.”

“Yes, my liege” Evelyn left the office and crossed over the royal court into the banquet hall.
