Mission Intro
This is the start of what I guess could be considered fanfiction. One of my favorite things about the new generation of XCOM games is the soldier customization. It was really sick to do in Enemy Unknown, but XCOM 2 just pushed it to the next level with the character pool system. The fact you could take characters who you liked from your runs and have them come back in later runs either as VIPs or soldiers again was just so cool. So of course my mind would go into creating stories for the soldiers I was controlling during my time playing the game. There’s some more context stuff behind a lot of the things that happen in this piece I will happily explain in a future post, but the main point of this is writing a piece that has these characters in action. The idea behind this mission is that it happened at a pretty early point before everything went to crap per XCOM 2 so the team is definitely still sure of themselves and they are very good at working as a team. I’ve definitely written better quality stuff before, but this is just a first draft very subject to changing in the future. If you enjoyed reading, great! Otherwise I’ll just be back tomorrow with more like always.

“Pearl Team, Mission is a go on your signal.”
“Roger that Command, We’re moving to set charges now.”
“Central, are we authorized to use lethal force?”
“You already know the answer to that question Pearl-1. Moving to radio silence now. Good luck team.”
A final chirp was given as the radio signal was cut. The moon shone mildly onto the five silhouettes gathered on the rooftop.
“Do you actually think we’ll need to use lethal force DeWitt?” The team’s medic, Mr. Clean, asked.
“You can never be too sure Clean, I just didn’t want Central to chew me out in the event that the mission goes south.” DeWitt loaded an extra shell into his shotgun.
“I’m just saying, I don’t think we should have to resort to killing someone.”
“Hey, if you two are finished, the charges are set.” Arcade, the team’s short-tempered demolition expert interrupted.
“Copy that Arcade, Clean and I’ll be there soon.” DeWitt pulled up his handheld radio, “47, how’s the rest of the building looking.”
“Pretty quiet DeWitt,” Agent 47 responded, scanning the top floor with his sniper, “Thermals show that the building is pretty sparsely populated, but you never know with these guys.”
“We’ll be careful, DeWitt out,” He turns towards the rest of the team, “Alright, we’re doing this quick and simple, breach the room, get the hostage, and fight back to the roof for evac. She should be right below us so getting back up here shouldn’t be a problem. Kitty, do you have the floor plan?”
“I do.” the twitchy blond replies, “The rooms that seem to be most secure are the second and third floor suites.
“Sounds good, we’ll clear room to room from the fifth floor down. Agent 47 keep your eyes one floor ahead of us and let us know of any movement you see ASAP.”
“Rog” The quick reply was all he needed to hear.
“Found our access, group up on me!” The team all converged on Kitty as she stood against a doorway, clearly meant for residents to come onto the roof.
“Good work, I’ll go first, everyone stack on me.” DeWitt readied his shotgun as he heard the rest of the team get behind him.
“We got your back sir.” DeWitt’s face grew into a small smile, he was glad to be a part of this team.
