Assorted Character Bios 2

For the people who don’t know, in Destiny there are three classes: Hunter, Titan, and Warlock. You can play as any of these classes basically whenever you want because Bungie very conveniently provides three character slots for your destiny account. As I’ve spent the last five or so years playing destiny I have naturally gotten pretty attached to my three characters. Something that has always been pretty cool about the vanguard npcs is how they’re a fireteam. Ikora, Zavala, and Cayde are a fireteam. The trailers all feature “the” fireteam and that has been something I’ve been trying to emulate a bit with my guardians. It might be a lil cringe to some, but I think it’s so cool to find these ways to really enhance your experience. So without further ado, here is a little bit of the lore I have created for my account’s fireteam.

Warlock

Name: Xela

Ghost’s name: Eight

Time since revived: unknown, minimum 10 years according to time spent in Last City

Subclass: Solar

Preferred Weapons: Assault Rifles/SMGs/Grenade Launchers

Signature Exotic: Eye of Another World

So for Xela, he has always been a bit of a wildcard, sometimes much to the chagrin of his team mates. Despite that, his teammates often would miss him whenever he went on one of his many excursions. Not much is known about where he came from He randomly showed up to the tower, but was reported to have spoken shortly with Zavala before leaving for many months. Zavala says that Xela claims to have been revived somewhere in what used to be the United States, but never gave an exact location. Occasionally he would return only to stay for no longer than a few days at a time before disappearing for much longer stretches of time. Those visits often involved helping out on various missions or working with the vanguard to collect lost golden age history as well as researching future threats including the darkness. There isn’t any clear idea of what goes on those departures. For Xela, he spends a lot of time traveling the edges of space, chasing leads and finding old golden age sites. When the darkness began coming in from the edges of the universe, Xela continued his trips, trying to see the effects of the darkness on the planets they consumed. Unfortunately, being only one guardian he hasn’t been able to make much progress. He doesn’t want to ask for help though, as he feels that risking the lives of others for his personal scientific pursuits isn’t a worthy endeavor. On one of his visits back, the vanguard asked for him to remain on a more permanent basis, even going so far as to offer him leadership of his own fireteam. He declined of course, but was willing to be a part of a fireteam and be around more frequently. Since then, he has made an effort to be more active with having a team being the leading factor, but he couldn’t help but feel a little restricted in his actions due to the vanguard. He often tends to be more reserved and closed off, with not even his teammates actually knowing what he looks like under the helmet he wears. Which he claims is the most optimal design.

His ghost is almost as enigmatic as he is. It resembles a magic eight ball and can only ever respond with yes/no answers. It makes conversing with them very hard for everyone except Xela. More often than not, Xela will be having full conversations with the ghosts while all it ever seems to do is enthusiastically say “yes.”

Going forward, Xela has a huge dilemma on his mind. As the darkness gets closer he may need to call upon his fire team to help him find answers, but is it a risk that he will come to regret later on?

Titan

Name: Riegel-5

Ghost’s Name: Bulwark “Bull”

Time since revived: 257 years(no idea when exactly the dark age was, but this is my guess)

Subclass: Arc

Preferred Weapons: Grenade Launchers, Shotguns, Rocket Launchers

Signature Exotic: Cuirass of the Falling Star

Riegel-3 is the leader of the fire team and definitely the oldest of the group. He was revived near what is now the European Dead Zone during the dark age. He would go on to join Lord Saladin and the rest of the Iron lords in ending the war against the warlord Segoth. From here he would remain with the iron lords, joining Pilgrim Guard until what would essentially be the timeline of the Destiny games. During his younger years he was known for charging headlong into battle, being the tip of the spear. During this time his robotic body endured a lot of damage. During this time, a lot of the original golden age components in his exo body were replaced by parts salvaged from what was found post battle. Against the advice of many, he still continued his reckless fighting style and was able to bring about great success. Post-dark age his years of combat finally began to catch up to him. Even with the best engineers and some help from Ana and Elsie Bray, his body’s damage would forever be permanent and any fix would most likely require a reset. This also meant any future damage wouldn’t be able to be replaced either.  Not wanting to lose the experiences he had, he took a more laid back post as the years went by. He never stopped finding a way to fix his body, relentlessly trying to find the solution. Nothing ever bore fruit though. He has modified his armor so that it has become fused to his body, done as a desperate measure to remove any risk of damaging his vital components below. Of course, he still finds himself out in the field, his experience has proven to be helpful in many smaller missions, but the vanguard have been careful to not put him into a spot where would be at risk of serious damage. This has definitely had a more negative effect on his mood, only slightly lifted when he was offered leadership of a fireteam. He of course would never let this show, outwardly he’s a very jovial figure for the tower, often talking up a storm post mission and hyping up people either first coming to the tower or coming back from successful missions.

As a leader, he never liked leading from the back. He is very aware of his limitations though, but in a way it has made him stronger in battle. He knows when there are good moments to strike and to pull back. His teammates are definitely aware of this and put their full trust into following his lead when it counts. Outside of battle, he keeps to a very strict routine. His fireteam definitely doesn’t follow this and that has created some outside friction, though in the end he respects them as if they were the iron lords he fought outside many years ago.

As the darkness gets ever closer to the tower, Riegel-5 has one thing on his mind. Will he be able to fix his body or will he expend in a final battle to protect the place that he has called home for many centuries now?

Hunter

Name: Amara

Ghost’s Name: Spike

Time since revived: 6 months

Subclass: Solar

Preferred Weapons: Snipers, Handcannons, Linear Fusion Rifles

Signature Exotic: Wormhusk Crown

Very young compared to her peers, Amara has quickly proven to be one of the strongest up and comers in years for the tower. When she was revived, it was in the middle of a red legion controlled territory very distant from the tower. Her entire life until she reached the tower was nothing but fighting and evading the Cabal as she tore her way towards the last city. Fortunately, she was rescued by some patrolling guardians who were bewildered at her lasting so long as well as the ghost that so recklessly revived her. The two became pretty close, having shared so much of their time together in a life or death scenario up until that point. At the tower, she was surprised at how easy some of the other guardians seemed to have it and began to resent the vanguard for not preparing them properly for the things that she saw. Her skills proved to be useful for something other than killing the forces of darkness, She holds a record for the fastest time to reach the highest rank in the crucible, having an almost flawless record against any of the opponents she faced. The vanguard, despite wanting to put her skills to use, thought it wouldn’t really be a good time to put her on any fireteam. Any trial run resulted in her teammates abandoning her despite the mission’s success. They reported that she would often lose her temper, especially when it came to the Cabal, and abandon the objective in favor of going on a killing spree.

This resulted in her spending a few months drifting between fireteams. She had a few friends from her time in the crucible, but nothing ever actually substantial. She was finally given another chance to be in a fireteam when she was approached by Riegel-5 after yet another crucible win. Then conversation between the two lasted for a long while that day, but after it resulted in the two being the start of the fireteam that Xela would later join. Her and Riegel-5 would often get into arguments about personal lifestyle choices outside of missions as well as her not respecting Riegel’s adherence to sticking to Vanguard policies. Regardless, she does respect Riegel for what he does, and after having learned his situation, puts in effort to be a team player with him. She also enjoys trying to get a rise from Xela, who never seems to be fazed by her attempts to poke at him.

In the future, Amara will have to spend some time figuring out who she is. She has spent a lot of time being angry at the vanguard and tearing up the crucible, but that being all she has known has recently been giving her pause in the quiet moments. Thankfully she has support from her teammates, but the big decision will have to come from her.

So that was a little bit of lore for sure. I’ve had some of this stuff in my head for a while so it’s cool to finally have it all written down now! I’ll definitely try to take this somewhere, especially after whatever happens in the final shape. Until then, that was today’s post so if you enjoyed, any feedback is welcome and I will be back tomorrow with another post.
