Watching Counterstrike
While I was out today I was watching the Blast Pro SPring Finals in D.C. and man this game is so sick to watch. There was only a couple hundred people in the crowd, but the production team went crazy and made it seem like the crowd was like 100x larger. I think back to the pre pandemic times(wow ancient history) when Blast was first trying to get into the scene. Their first tournament was an absolute disaster. The venue lost power for the first day and when they finally played matches their format made no sense. Three games at once? In the same stadium? With crowds cheering for each team? If that sounds crazy, that's because it was. I thought they were gonna be dead in the water following this tournament, but they’ve really come back from those times. I think the coolest thing they did for a tournament was bringing back the suuuuuuper OG Anders, Semmler, and Moses trio for one of their tournaments. At this point in time Semmler had left for overwatch and I think nobody actually expected him to come back. For the older fans, and even some of the newer fans I think it was a cool treat. To bring it back to watching CS, we do objectively have some of the best talent in the scene. The pool goes so deep that many big names weren’t hired for PGL majors and it was still very clear that there wasn’t a weak link. Sure the historical/nostalgia value wasn’t there, but the quality remained the same if not better. If you want to try to prove me wrong, go ahead, there are plenty of Counter Strike matches to watch. That’s all I really wanted to say today. There is so much more to counterstrike than just the game that makes it truly special to me.
So if there is a moral of the story to this post it would be: play counterstrike.
